1 Site survey and photos. General condition of boats observed and recorded. Open land at the end of the peninsular the prime location. Swamp behind needs land fill and an evacuation road for existing residents and for visitors to the beach and  adjacent island. 2 Meeting with local fishers association. 92 fishers and families in Air Manis. SAR a big concern as their government donated SAR boat is too small to use in bad weather. Request work with Island Aid to use our larger beach landing boats and Electric Lamb for SAR. Failed credit scheme due to general perception that other groups were not repaying loans. Great concern regarding the doubling of fuel prices and news that they will rise again. Some fishers consider it pointless to go out as fuel cost is now higher than unskilled labor on day work. ie Rp50,000 ($5)
3 Meeting with land owners on site and at IslandAid office. Bp Iwan and Bp Nel are totally supportive and request a new tsunami evacuation road be requested from the City Administation
4 Meeting with the Mayor of Padang at Island Aid office to discuss evacuation road. Mayor agrees that a budget is available and that he agrees that the project is needed and that the City Administration will support it fully. Admiral (Ret) Djoko S attends and agrees tsunami mitigation critical for Padang.
5 Meeting with land owners to confirm positive support from the Mayor. Ask Bp Iwan to wait for funding confirmation before discussing further with local fishers.
6 Registered Island Aid with Governors Office for Emergency Co-ordination.
7 Meeting with Bp , secretary for the Fishers association. Need for work for wives of fishermen. Lack of drinking water. 1.5km walk to nearest spring. PAM project never finished so village has no reticulated water at all. Most houses have no septic tanks. Standing water round houses not healthy.
8 Gary Young advised interest in technical assistance - have requested budget concept
